Whilst lesson 1 predominantly focused on our introduction to
the LIB432 module, we were also introduced to what it means to be a 21st
century learner, lesson 2 expanded on this in a very interesting manner by
introducing us to the RSS Feed, even though seeing its icon on many websites it
was really through this lesson that I found out its ability to draw from
favourite articles and websites in an easy to read format which could be
utilised on this very blog I’m creating to share information. In this lesson
the foremost topic was 21st century literacies: literacies needed to
navigate the information landscape, the digital age and even the Fourth
industrial revolution (4IR). Characteristics of a 21st century
citizen is being flexible, having creative thinking, taking initiative and
having the ability to lead where necessary; these characteristics I feel echoes
not only in academic life but also our personal lives, these traits have the
promise of us creating a purposeful, valuable and useful life. As part of the
tutorial this lesson we were instructed to explore the UWC’s graduate
attributes which I found very interesting and inspiring, additionally, we were
introduced to information literacy frameworks and models, on this introductory
scape it seems like a dense subject to explore.
